Television Today

Television is one of the important medium that provides various types of entertainment, information and knowledge. In Malaysia, television was officially introduced on 28 December 1963 with a single network known as “Rangkaian Pertame” –The first channel in black and white. (Juliana,2006) In the past, having television in household is difficult because it is costly that no one can be afforded. But, today everyday seem different. Television today has no longer to be public but changed to be in private. Why I said so?

Many people today at least has one television at home, somehow it can be more than that. Television no longer to be as public place where everyone watched in living room together with family and friends. It started changed to be private. The watching behavior is changed where it turns bedroom, kitchen, even bathroom as the “Private living room” for them. This is why, it cause family time separate and no longer to have a great moment enjoy watching television together. All I can say, how we watched television today is so flexible.

Besides that, as we lived in the modern technology world. Everything started to be changed. The television function today is absolutely great and convenience. For example, we can fast forward, pause, even we allowed to recording a television program no matter what. In addition, watching television somehow for us is just want to kill the time when we are bored. Or else, we turn on the television just want as a background while we doing others thing.

In the society today, we can be multitasking when watching a television. We can use chatting with the friends on phone, reading story books, and doing others thing at the same time as well. Furthermore, watching television no wonder as the one way communication or watched it without any feedback.  What am I trying to argue here was, there are majority of peoples are trying to “tweet” or update a Facebook status when watching a television program. It either showing their support or others opinion when they was disagree with the story ending.

In conclusion, because of the behavior and the world is changing day by day. Even today, we can watch television program that we interested in online without any trouble. Everything was so convenience for us by just a click. We even are relying on the internet sources to look for what is the hits and famous television program. This is what It shows how we watched television in the past and now were so different.
